Class G

API Class G Oil Well Cement

API Class G Oil Well Cement — one of the most widely used base cements in well cementing. Designed for use as neat cement or as a base for slurry systems modified with retarders, accelerators, fluid-loss additives, dispersants and other cementing additives.

Application

API Class G is used for primary casing cementing, liner cementing, squeeze and remedial cementing, plug cementing, and cement slurry systems for conventional and high-temperature wells when combined with suitable additives. Lightweight and heavyweight slurry systems and gas-migration-control designs can be built on a Class G base. The final slurry formulation depends on well depth, BHCT/BHST, pressure, required slurry density, thickening time, fluid-loss control, rheology, free water and compressive-strength development. Slurry design must be confirmed by laboratory testing under simulated well conditions.

Technical characteristics (quality certificate)

Typical values as stated on a mill quality certificate (passport) for a standard commercial grade. Actual lot values are confirmed in the COA / TDS for the selected manufacturer.
